Green Valley is located 23 miles south of Tucson. This unincorporated community offers the best of small town living and many of the 23,000 residents of Green Valley are retired folk seeking “the good life.” Much of the housing in Green Valley is “age-restricted” but there are family neighborhoods. Green Valley appeals to those looking for a quiet community where neighbors know each other, and activities abound. The community offers cultural activities, lots of recreational opportunities, a variety of restaurants, and various shopping venues.
For many residents, it’s all about golf. There are nine golf courses, ranging from championship caliber tracks to courses for the novice player. Green Valley Recreation (GVR) runs 12 recreation centers and 23 heated pools. Restaurants in Green Valley offer excellent Mexican food along with other ethnic delights and American fare. Four shopping centers in and around the community comprise over 370 stores and shops. Children from pre-kindergarten through 8th grade attend Continental Elementary. High school-aged residents attend Sahuarita High School located 5 miles north in the town of Sahuarita. Pima Community College is located locally as is a satellite campus of the University of Arizona. .
